The Diva Lounge Miami Spring 2012 {Recap}

Good Morning my lovely ASW readers!! I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. I would like to share with you all my experience at the Diva Lounge this past Saturday night. A few of you may remember that I attended the Diva Lounge Miami Edition last October in the Design District of Miami, Florida. I had such a great time at the last one that I knew I wanted to attend the next one. They honored five of South Florida’s premier women in the arts.

Check out the pictures from the event below ↓

The event was held at The Little Haiti Cultural Center and was well attended.

I posed with the lovely Shayna D., Founder of The Diva Lounge, who is so sweet and kind hearted. She even remembered me from the last Diva Lounge event in Miami. How cool is that? Then I bumped into the lovely Dekishea and Donnete who are the go-to PR ladies down here in South Florida. I also got a chance to meet and take a picture with the talented Vanessa James who is a TV, Radio and Media Personality in Miami, NYC and Trinidad! I love her neon wrap dress. Too cute!

Lala’s new Make up line called Motives. She features reasonably priced make up products which consist include: Lip gloss, Facial powder, Eye shadow, etc. I will definitely be looking to purchase something from her line in the near future.

Ran into ASMI Style. This woman is so talented. Every time I see her and I ask her where did she get her dress she tells me that she designed and made it herself. She’s amazing! Click here to check out her website.

Schooling Life: Nude Love

Good Morning Lovelies!! I’ve been M.I.A for about a week but I’ve so busy. As many of you know, I was a co-host for C.Michelle’s  Beauty and Fashion Blogger Meet and Greet this past Thursday night at Soyka Restaurant. I should be sharing with you all the pictures from the event in a few days so stay tuned for that. I’ve also been working on another event that I will be co-hosting with the lovely Shea of Curves and Confidence which will take place May 5th. I will share more information with you all in another post as well.

Anywho, really quickly I just wanted to share with you all what I wore yesterday to work. I saw Think Like a Man this past weekend and it was extremely funny and sweet. My favorite actress in the movie was of course Taraji P. Henson. She is one of my favorite actresses and she really puts her all in every role that she has ever been given. I absolutely loved her style and hair in the movie. Her look was classic and chic. She inspired me to get up yesterday morning and dress up a little differently than the norm.

So I won a Target gift card from Whitney of Nics-picks blog a few weeks ago and I also had another gift card from Target so I headed on over and picked up some goodies. I’ve been searching for a pair of nude pumps that weren’t that high so that I would be able to wear them to work. So I couldn’t leave the store with out bringing these home with me. I lasted the whole day in them and received a few compliments on them. Thanks Whitney!

NCBW 100: Women in Leadership Breakfast 2012

Greetings my lovely ASW readers!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Weekend! It is always great to get together with family and friends to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I actually attended a different church yesterday because one of my friend’s baby was being dedicated and I pride myself on being there for as much as I can when it comes to the people who I am close to. I enjoyed the service and I wouldn’t mind visiting Logos Baptist Church in the near future.

Anywho, this past Saturday morning myself and a few other lovely ladies attended the National Coalition of 100 Black Women’s Leadership Breakfast at Jungle Island in Miami, Florida. There were six panelists who provided us with great knowledge on how to be successful with anything and everything that you plan to do. They encouraged us to look at where we are right now and plan that next step in our lives. I am twenty-five years old and I feel as though I need to use my 20′s as my grind period because in a couple of years I plan to get married and start a family. I will use this time to plan my life and keep my priorities in check. My biggest fear is that I will look back 5 years from now and wish I would have done this and that differently. I am glad that I was able to attend this breakfast because it has altered my outlook on life.

Panelists (L to R): Katy Soreson,Nikki Lewis Simon,Esq.,Violette Sproul,Laurinda Andujar,Annette Taddeo Goldstein, and Donna L. Ginn

I picked up this dress at Kohls during their Easter sale. I loved the fit of it and I knew I would be able to wear this dress again during the Spring and Summer season. The middle of the dress was a little big so I added a skinny belt to give it a better fit. I find myself shopping at Kohls almost every weekend and mainly because I find a 20% off coupon to their store each week which is always a plus. Especially considering the fact that 90% of their merchandise is consistently on sale. They have the cutest Spring dresses right now so I suggest that you head on over and check them out.

Iris and I

Aren’t we colorful?? A few of my lovely friends!! See you ladies April 19th at 6PM!!

*If you are in the Miami/Ft.Lauderdale area and you are a blogger or read blogs I would love to meet and hang out with you at the Beauty/Fashion Blogger Meet and Greet on April 19, which is hosted by C.Michelle of CMichelleStyles and Co-hosted by myself, Sche of Curves and Confidence and Jillian of NuSophisticate. Click here for more information.

Have a wonderful Monday and thanks for your support!

Bloggers Do It Better: Miami Edition {Review}

Good Morning lovelies!! It’s Monday!!! I would like to share my experience at Refinery 29′s Bloggers Do It Better event that took place last Thursday at the Ricochet Bar/Lounge in Midtown, Florida. I would first like to say that the event was well promoted and put together. By walking into the venue I could already tell that a lot of time and energy went into making this event a success.

Bloggers and friends: (Left to Right) Iris, Dione of Prissy Shopper, Chanell of Chanell Nicole, Moi, Jillian of Nusophisticate, Maika of Glam Life Blog, and my BBF Sche of Curves and Confidence! If you haven’t checked out these lovely bloggers please head on over!!

Aren’t we FAB? It was such a pleasure to be around these ladies. I got a chance to see Chanell who I hadn’t seen in a couple of months and to also meet Maika who I follow on Twitter and chat with from time to time.

I love this girls head wrap!! I really would like to try out this look in the near future!

The lovely Shana and Nykenya of Thierry-Accessories.

I chose to be comfortable but still dressy at the same time. I bought this romper last year to wear to my 25th birthday dinner. It is very comfortable and versatile and I was so excited that the romper went well with my pink blazer. Usually when I attend events like these most of the time I’m standing up so I made sure to choose my shoes wisely. It wasn’t until the end of the night that my feet were feeling like they were in pain and Iris was kind enough to give me her seat so I could rest.

You can’t really see it but I am wearing a pin that says Style Boss. When I attended the It Girl Expo a few months back one of the vendors had a container full of pins that had different names on them. I thought my pin was so cute!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day ✌.

Schooling Life: Green Kitten Heels

Good Morning lovelies!! It’s Wednesday! Yesterday I wore this outfit to work and since it was a nice day outside I thought I should take a few pictures so that I could participate in Laura’s Work It Wednesday link up on her blog A Little Big of Lacquer. As you all know, I am a teacher and the majority of us are not into wearing high heels especially if you teach at the elementary level. I do wear heels here and there but for the most part I’m usually rocking flats. Since its the spring time I decided to mix some of my spring tops with my work attire.

So with that being said I pulled out my floral top and green kitten peep toe heels! I knew I would be able to survive in these heels all day since they aren’t that high.

(Cardigan)H&M/(Top)XXI/(Pants)Mango/(Shoes)Nine West/(Belt)OLD/(Earrings)ALDO/(Necklace)XXI/(Bracelet)Gift

These shoes are so comfortable! It has been about 3 years or more since I’ve worn these shoes. I guess they have been hiding in my closet lol.

I’ve had this top for a while and I would have to say that it is one of my favorites. I usually wear it with jeans or my green peasant skirt.

Alright folks I hope you all have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by ✌.

Work It Wednesday

Good Afternoon lovelies! I hope you all had a wonderful Wednesday! This post is going to be quite quick due to the fact that I have a slight headache and I would like to lay down for a little bit. I just wanted to share with you all what I wore today for Laura of A Little Bit of Lacquer Work It Wednesday link up! I hope you all enjoy the photos!

(Blazer)Mom's old blazer/(Top)Arden B./(Pants)Old Navy/(Shoes)BCBGirls/(Belt)Taken off an old dress/(Necklace)Thierry-Accessories/(Earrings)H&M/(Bracelet)Express/(Purse)Gift from Africa

I posted this necklace on my Instagram from my Ipad this morning and everyone loved it. I have purchased quite a few items from Thierry-Accessories but I’d have to say that (Sachiko) is my favorite! It’s so versatile. This will definitely be my go to piece for the Spring/Summer time.

A few years ago my parents went to Africa and they brought me back a numerous amount of authentic accessories as well as this beautiful bag. I wear it as an oversized clutch as well as a regular hand bag. And believe it or not but it’s quite roomy inside. I can fit just about all my necessities in it.

Thanks for your continuous support towards my blog. I truly appreciate you all.

Recap of Florida’s Finest + What I Wore to the Barack Obama Fundraising Event

Good Morning ALL!! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. I know I had a great time! As we all know last week I was Spring Breaking it and had a week full of Florida guest bloggers! I want to first start off by saying Thank you to each and every one of the ladies who participated in the guest blogger series. I adore each and every one of you and your blogs.

Each lady brought something different to the table. Let’s start off with Sche of Curves and Confidence! She killed it with the three ways to wear a maxi skirt. After reading everyone’s comments I think we would all agree that the third look was all of our favorites and I know we all will be trying out this look. Then we had the lovely Kerissa of A Diva Mom’s Journey who rocked an A line skirt which she paired with a cute camisole and cardigan. The look was very classic and chic. On Monday the lovely India of IfreeNaturally shared her journey that focused on her transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. She received great feedback from readers as well as friends. Next, Shanequa of Fashion Pad rocked a body con striped midi skirt. She was cool and casual! Wednesday’s guest blogger is my fellow USF Alumni Ariel of Fashion Devotee. I was first drawn to her patterned tights!! They were so unique and flowed well with the rest of her ensemble. Thursday’s guest blogger is also another fellow USF Alumni Jennifer of Chic Desire. She wrote about rocking denim different ways which was great because I have been meaning to try out this trend! To end out the work week we had Shalonda of Candy Coated Cashmere to show us what she wears on Friday’s at work. I loved those pants!! To start the weekend off we had Dionne of The Prissy Shopper share with us a few purses that she had recently purchased. They were so cute. My favorite purse was the purple and pink one! Last but not least, the lovely Jillian of NuSophisticate closed out the guest blog series mixing prints. Loved the polka dots and leopard mix. Will definitely have to try that out as well.

So there you have it folks. Thank you all for the support that you gave these ladies throughout the week. The RT’s on Twitter and sharing of posts on Facebook was so sweet. They really appreciated it!

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of attending a Fundraiser for Barack Obama that was hosted by Hope: Young and Powerful group here in Miami, Florida. The event was held in the Design District at CafeIna Lounge. It was such a cute venue. I tried to take pictures inside of the place but the lighting was not agreeing with my camera so I just gave up on taking pictures of the venue. Overall it was a great event for such a great cause. If you would like to make a donation to help Obama’s Campaign click here. Below are pictures of what I wore to the event!

Dress:Forever 21/Shoes:OLD,Nine West/Clutch and Bracelet:Forever 21/Earrings:Thierry-Accessories

I knew that the event was semi-dressy so I opted for wearing one of my favorite dresses that I bought a Forever 21 about two years ago. I love the colors and how it fits me. I usually wear my nude heels with it but I decided to wear my gold and tan Nine West heels with it. I purchased these in 2007 and believe it or not I have only worn them maybe two or three times, including last Thursday. They are very comfortable so that is probably why I never parted with them. To complete my look I just added some cute earrings I recently purchased from Thierry, a cute Forever 21 cuff bracelet and yellow bow clutch!

Thanks for your support and I hope you all have a delightful Monday!

Dr. Patty’s Dental Boutique Launch Party: An Elegant Cocktail Soiree

Me (cheesing EXTRA hard), Dr. Patterson and Sche

Good Morning ASW Readers!! We made it to Friday. Woot Woot. I’m very excited about this day because when 3:30 P.M rolls around I am officially on Spring Break! As many of you all know I will have guest bloggers during the duration of my Spring Break and I can’t wait for you to read their posts. It all starts tomorrow!

Anywho, I had the pleasure of being invited to Dr. Patty’s Dental Boutique Launch Party this past Wednesday evening. Dr. April Patterson is a highly trained cosmetic dentist who is dedicated to the state of the art dental technologies. Patterson’s philosophy is to create a smile that reflects who you are, that helps you achieve your goals and enhances not only your teeth and overall youthful appearance, but help improve your self esteem and confidence. This remarkable woman graduated from The University of Michigan in 2008 and has worked extremely hard for the past couple of years to make her dream a reality.

Let’s move forward with the details of the event. So Dr. Patty’s Dental Boutique is located at 646 North Federal Highway in Ft.Lauderdale, Florida. Like I stated earlier, this is not your average dentist office. The boutique offers spa like services to her customers. Below is a picture of the lobby area. Click on the picture below to view more pictures of the office.

Jillian of Nusophisticate and Sche of Curves and Confidence posing in the entrance of the boutique!

Me posing with Jillian and Sche. I adore these ladies!

The lovely Sche. Everything about her look is AMAZING!

Dr. Patterson was gracious enough to provide gift bags to all of her guests that attended her soiree. The gift bag came with a mug with her company’s name on it, chapstick, and a sugar cookie. I haven’t gotten around to eating the sugar cookie but it looks yummy. Oh I forgot to mention that myself and Jillian were winners of 2 out of the three giveaways that Patterson had. I won a $125 gift certificate to Roman Interior Design, LLC. It is perfect timing because I am moving into a new place in the summer and I would love to have something original and chic. To check out more of her work please click here. Thanks again Marisol for the gift certificate!

The event was magnificent. I met some new people and had a blast hanging with my friends. Special shout out to Matthew Beatty for informing us about the soiree. For more information about Dr. Patty’s Dental Boutique please click here.

Have a great weekend folks and thanks for stopping by.
